Melody Gardot原本主修服装设计，19岁那年一次的返家途中发生严重车祸，医生建议她进行音乐治疗，她在病床上尝试自弹自唱和词曲创作，却也开启她成为爵士创作歌手的契机，当时的创作收录于2005年发行的EP【Some Lessons - The Bedroom Sessions】。

2008年Melody Gardot发行首张全创作专辑【Worrisome Heart】便一鸣惊人，出道以来风衣搭配大墨镜带着神秘面纱的酷样，以钢琴和吉他自弹自唱的音乐融合爵士、蓝调和各类型音乐风情，唱出车祸复健期间内心世界的情绪。

第一张全创作专辑发行后Melody Gardot被告示牌（Billboard）评选为年度最佳爵士新人，更风光拿下美国国家公共广播电台（NPR）2008最佳全新歌唱爵士专辑，2009发行的【My One And Only Thrill】则完美精准透视爱欲情愁中千回百转思绪，以深思自省的坚毅女性特质演绎都会女子历经爱情洗礼的心路历程。
